2015 will see the second Scottish Haggis Festival. As 2015 is the Year of Food and Drink Oban winter festival is hosting a special haggisfest event. Seven Argyll butchers and haggis makers will go head to head in Oban distillery to compete for the coveted golden haggis award.

Judges will be Alex Needham of the Waterfront restaurant, who said that ‘Oban should have a haggis festival’ and Gregor Mackinnon of Manor House Hotel.

After the judging the doors will open to the public who will be welcomed with a nip of Oban whisky courtesy of the distillery. They will then have the chance to taste the haggis and vote for the ‘people’s choice.
Other activities for the ‘year of the haggis’ will include haggis hurling where competitors – donning a kilt will flex their muscles to see who can throw the haggis the furthest.

The Tartan Dash will see runners and walkers dressed in tartan leave Atlantis and make their way round town for a distance of 5k.
Charities can benefit from this event with sponsor forms available from Atlantis Leisure.

In the evening the Argyllshire Gathering is the venue for the Grand Ceilidh with champion singers and dancers entertaining the crowds while renound ceilidh band Skippinish play for dancing.

Oban Distillery Visitor Centre

To celebrate The Year of the Haggis, seven Argyll Haggis makers go head to head to win the Coveted Golden Haggis Award.

Judging at 11.00am.

Public tasting and voting from 12 noon

Admission £2 – includes complimentary nip provided by Oban Distillery
