Saturday will hit full Swing!

The Oban Winter Festival has kicked off in earnest. Oban looks fantastic with the lights and the roller disco proving more than popular. Check the photos on theOban Winter Festival Official Facebook Page. Of course the roller disco will be back again from 10-30AM – 6.00PM at Atlantis Leisure.

Ballet West’s Winter Wonderland was said to be spectacular and enjoyed by everyone. The photos are spectacular. The photos loom spectacular. They are currently uploaded our Official Facebook Page

Kilbowie Outdoor Centre will be holding a range of activities. There is the Dry Ski Slope, Gorge Walking and cycling. They will run from 9.30 AM – 12.30 PM and 1.30 PM – 4.30 PM. Each event costs £8. This should be fun for everyone. Phone 01631 563287 for bookings and further information.

The Oban War & Peace Museum will be open from 10:00AM – 4:30PM. Always worth a visit.

In the Oban Whiskey Distillery, there is a food and drink market. Running from 10.30 AM – 4.00 PM, there will be an array of food and drink stalls. Here you will find the best local produce from Oban and the surrounding areas. Also be on the look out for award winning chef Paul Burns. I am sure he will put on a masterclass of cooking.

Oban Pheonix Cinema will have two fantastic films on show. At 1PM It will be that delightful Penguin Fest that is Happy Feet. Then at 3PM they will be showing Little Women. Tickets for each film are £5/£4.

The Caledonian Hotel are holding a Victorian Market and Food Stalls. This will take place from 2:00PM – 7:30PM. Meanwhile there will be Mulled Wine serve at the Ranald Hotel from 3 – 5PM.

The big event that every small and adult child looks forward to kicks off from the Corran Hallsat 5PM. Yes that’ right, Santa Claus and his Reindeer have promised to parade down George Street to Station Square. This was so popular last year that Santa had no choice but to return with Rudolph and the gang! I am sure we will make him feel so welcome.

The day will end with Oban Comedy Club hosting the comical talents of Hal Cruttenden. He and a some guests will have you side splitting in laughter. Hal himselfhas toured all over the country with his talents. Check out the poster below:

Yes that’s right! The festival is about to start with some great activities. Kids are off school tomorrow so why not take them to the Atlantis Express Roller Skating. Costs only £3.50 per person and a family ticket is £10.

At 5pm it is the Leaping Waters Black Lynn Burn Airds Crescent switching on ceremony. This event is free for everyone.

Showing at 6PM The Oban Pheonix Cinema is screening “Harry Potter & The Philospher’s Stone” for one night only. Every person is invited to dress up as characters from the film. Tcikets are £5/4.

There 2 events running from 7pm. For your art lovers out there, We have an art auction taking place at the Regent Hotel.

Ballet West will be performing performing Winter Wonderland at he Corran Halls. Tickets for the Ballet are £10/£8.

So thats a fun packed first day for the Winter Festival. So what will you be doing?

First fundraiser of the year will be a Licensed Ceilidh Dance in Oban Distillery on Saturday 16 November with popular band Trail West.
