Following the tremendous success of Oban’s first-ever Creel Tree in 2024, the Oban Winter Festival is excited to announce the launch of its 2025 Creel Tree Appeal — and the local community is at the heart of this year’s plans.
Built entirely by volunteers from F.A.I.R. a local charity supporting children with additional needs, last year’s tree captured the spirit of Oban’s coastal heritage and the power of community collaboration. Now, organisers are calling on individuals, families, and community groups to help make this year’s tree even more spectacular.
Set to take pride of place once again the 2025 Creel Tree organisers are hoping to raise enough donations to create a spectacular installation, the more we raise, the more spectacular the Creel Tree will be! The Festival is asking the community to sponsor them. For just £10 per creel, sponsors will have their name proudly displayed on a creel and recognised on the Oban Winter Festival website and social media channels.
For businesses who would like to sponsor an entire creel, for only £25 you can secure an entire creel sponsorship with your name displayed to acknowledge your community support.
“All proceeds will go directly towards the cost of the creels,” said a Festival spokesperson. “The beauty of this project is that the tree can grow each year, building on what the community creates together. It’s a donation that keeps on giving.”
